Mapping ice storm damage and monitoring long-term impacts

The forest resources of the Wayne National Forest sustained extensive mortality and crown damage as a result of the 2003 ice storm. GIS was implemented to map damage areas from aerial surveys and establish plots for monitoring long-term impacts on the ecosystem and future condition of the forest.
